Project Overview:
The recent advent of the new AR/VR headsets like Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro, as well as the smart glasses like Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to the market, is opening up frontiers in user interface design. Despite similarities between UI design for traditional 2D screens and these new 3D environments, UI Design for these new devices require incorporating new considerations and methods. Some important considerations for Mixed Reality UI/UX Design include Spatial Awareness, Inclusion of Eye and Hand Gesture Tracking info into the designs, Adapting to different lighting conditions, Glass Morphism and new accessibility considerations.
I started this project to dive into and explore the new world of Spatial design and prototyping for 3D environments and new devices like Smart glasses and headsets like Apple Vision Pro.
As recently, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) has started a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring virtual reality to live sports viewing. Inspired by that project, I decided to design an app for viewing live Sports events on Apple Vision Pro.
Process:
For designing an app for Apple Vision Pro I used Figma, for prototyping and testing the designs in a 3D environment I used the prototyping platform Bezi. Following are the process, from the conceptualization and ideation to prototyping and testing the app.
